PRESS RELEASE

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Livestock Pledges 1,000 hectares of Land to Welcome2Africa International (W2A), for large scale industrial feed and fodder development ahead of W2A’s Feed and Investment and Trade Deal Room taking place 25th of November 2025, Kano State

This landmark initiative marks a new phase in Nigeria’s commitment to building a more sustainable, resilient, and profitable livestock industry.

This deal room comes at a crucial time when the livestock sector valued at over $32 billion  is emerging as one of the fastest-growing segments in Nigeria’s agricultural economy. The industry plays a vital role in food security, job creation, and rural livelihoods, yet continues to face challenges related to feed scarcity, high production costs, and weak value chain integration.

With feed accounting for up to 70% of total livestock production expenses, the need for sustainable feed and fodder systems has never been more urgent. Addressing this challenge is expected to unlock new opportunities in feed milling, pasture development, processing, and logistics driving inclusive growth across the entire value chain.

Building on Proven Experience and Partnerships

This engagement with the Ministry of Livestock Development reaffirms our commitment to advancing sustainable investment ecosystems across Africa,” said Bamidele Seun Owoola, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Welcome2Africa International.

“We see the livestock and fodder industry as one of Nigeria’s most promising frontiers  one capable of driving rural development, job creation, and export competitiveness. With the right partnerships and financing mechanisms, this sector can attract billions in long-term investment while ensuring food security and resilience.”

The collaboration will culminate in the Investment Forum on Harnessing Feed and Fodder for Sustainable Economic Transformation, scheduled to take place in Kano. This two-day hybrid event will convene government agencies, investors, agribusiness leaders, financiers, and international development partners to explore opportunities, share knowledge, and accelerate financing for the feed and fodder ecosystem.

Key objectives of the forum include:

  • Promoting investment opportunities in feed and fodder production, processing, and storage.

  • Strengthening value chain linkages between producers, processors, and service providers.

  • Enhancing technology and innovation uptake through mechanization and digital solutions.

  • Mobilizing financing from commercial banks, DFIs, venture capital, and impact investors.

  • Fostering climate-smart, inclusive, and resource-efficient feed systems.

The forum will feature plenary sessions, expert panels, deal rooms, and investment pitch series, alongside an exhibition space showcasing innovative technologies, equipment, and feed solutions.

With over 200 million livestock nationwide and an annual feed demand exceeding 55 million metric tons, Nigeria’s feed and fodder supply gap presents a multibillion-dollar investment opportunity. The sector holds the potential to attract both domestic and foreign investors across areas such as pasture cultivation, feed milling, seed production, storage infrastructure, and mechanization.

By integrating innovation, financing, and policy reform, this initiative aims to enhance productivity, reduce import dependency, and create a competitive and self-sustaining livestock economy.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Launch of investment partnerships between agribusinesses and investors.

  • Development of policy recommendations for enabling feed and fodder investments.

  • Creation of a sustainable networking platform for long-term stakeholder engagement.

  • Strengthened financing pipelines for SMEs and smallholder-inclusive enterprises.

  • Showcasing of innovations and technologies that enhance feed efficiency and sustainability.
